10,000 visitors to Podcast Show 2023

The Podcast Show, held in Islington, attracted over 10,000 attendees from 40 countries, making it an international event for the podcast industry. Renowned speakers such as Mark Kermode & Simon Mayo, Adam Buxton, Poppy Jay & Rubina Pabani, and Jon Ronson took the stage at various venues.

The US had the highest representation of international attendees, highlighting the global appeal of podcasting. Prominent figures from the industry, including The News Agents, Katherine Ryan, Katie Price, Russell Tovey, Nish Kumar, and Nick Grimshaw, delivered engaging talks.

Comedian Nish Kumar discussed his podcast Pod Save The UK in a talk titled “A Podcasters Manifesto: How Pod Save The UK Can Change The World.” He explored the accessibility and affordability of podcasts, challenging the dominance of traditional media.

The hosts of The News Agents, Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel, and Lewis Goodall, announced the launch of News Agents USA during their talk at The Origin Theatre. They expressed excitement about covering topics such as gun laws and abortion laws in the US, leveraging the cultural and political atmosphere leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

Vogue Williams, co-host of Spencer & Vogue and My Therapist Ghosted Me, shared her experience as an “accidental podcaster.” She emphasized the joy of working with her husband and having meaningful conversations on their podcast.

During the discussion “BBC & Spotify: What Content, Which Platform And Whose Audience?,” BBC Sounds reported a record-breaking week with 4.9 million app users. They highlighted the success of their podcast Believe in Magic, hosted by Jamie Bartlett, which topped the charts.
